If people are some of the greatest things in Jan's life, a love of change is another. When Jan was 13, his dad moved the family from Miami Beach, Fla., to South America, where he built a chicken ranch in the middle of a rainforest. At 18, Jan moved to New York and he joined the United States Air Force. He has lived in Portugal, Washington D.C., Tucson, Ariz., and Reno, and has left a mark everywhere he's been. In Tucson, he rode around the University of Arizona campus, selling juice he squeezed daily from two-ton bins of oranges; in Reno, he started out as a waiter with nothing and became a restaurant owner.

And Jan continues to embrace change, as demonstrated by his willingness to take advantage of digital technology. One of the first in his field to go completely digital, Jan said he could count on one hand the number of shoots he's done with film cameras. "I don't see why anyone would refuse to go digital," he said. "Digital is going to be huge."

At a typical shoot, Jan takes 10 to 15 initial pictures, and then downloads them. He and his client pick out the good ones, then shoot another round. Three hours later, clients walk out of the studio with CDs containing 40 to 80 of their favorite images, and Jan puts some of the photos online, helping them both gain worldwide recognition; his top albums have brought in more than 15,000 hits since he opened his account a year ago.

Jan Sanders is the owner of Jan Sanders Artist's & Model's Photography in Culver City, California.
Not bad for a 52-year-old who for the first time considered turning his life long hobby into a career in photography just a little more than a year ago. And for Jan, this is only the beginning. He plans to stay on top of the newest technologies and watch his clients all make it to the TV screen, the big screen -- wherever they aspire to go.

"He's insatiable," Michael said. "Jan's never going to give up -- he's going to only move forward."

Jan's next project will be a wedding photography concept he will call "Budget Wedding Photography", serving all of Southern California with affordable award winning photography.
